It was the gathering of who-is-who in Nollywood recently when a group of friends led by top actor, Charles Inojie, under the aegis of ‘Lasgidi Friends of Lancelot Celebrate D’[email protected]’ played host to ace filmmaker, Lancelot Imasuen at his 50th birthday.
Held at Surulere, the event had a host of stars such as Osita Iheme, Famous Otakpowen, Andy Best, Norbert Ajaegbu,Charles Novia, Francis Onwochei, Fidelis Duker, Emma Isikaku, Adah Ameh, Bob Manuel Udokwu,Ijeoma Imoh, Kubra Emokpaire, Chinedu Ikedieze, Matthew Okonkwo, Ejike Asiegbu, Desmond Elliot, Dr. Shuabu Hussein and wife, Nosa, Victor Emeghara, among many others.
Inojie and Chidi Nwokeabia, who were chief hosts, made sure there was enough to eat and drink as they were everywhere making sure everyone was comfortable.
The highlight of the occasion was the surprise Entertainment Leadership award given to Emma Isikaku and Francis Onwochei for their immense contributions to the movie industry.
According to Lancelot Imasuen, Initiator of the award, Isikaku as far back as 1996 gave him a chance of giving him the sum of N670,000 to produce a movie without knowing anything about Imasuen.
The celebrator added that as at that time, he didn’t have a house but was squatting, and ever since that opportunity, he has been growing in leaps and bounds producing blockbuster movies.
Thanking the organisers for the honour, Imasuen said: “I have never been so honoured and I am grateful for the kind gesture and recognition. I wondered how I would be so celebrated without initiating an award. I feel very proud and happy. This is not an obituary; let us stop mocking the dead.”
For Inojie, it was what he insisted on by having the shindig in Lagos, where it all began.
