As reported by The Nation, on Thursday evening, December 14, four more commissioners resigned from their positions in the state executive council.

The commissioner for special duties, Emeka Woke, and commissioner of Finance, Isaac Kamalu have resigned from Fubara’s cabinet.

Those who have resigned so far are said to be strong allies of the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, The Punch reported.

Kamalu is the fourth commissioner to resign after Zacchaeus Adangor, Dax Kelly and Inime Aguma.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the commissioner for works and staunch loyalists of former governor Nyesom Wike, Dr George-Kelly Alabo, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Mrs. Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma.

In the letter dated December 14 and addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara through the secretary to the state government, Alabo, who served as Wike’s commissioner of works, said he resigned based on the dictates of his conscience.

Similarly, Legit.ng reported earlier that Zacchaeus Adangor, the attorney-general and commissioner of justice in Rivers state, unexpectedly resigned from his position.

As reported by Daily Trust on Thursday, December 14, the announcement was made through a formal letter addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In the letter, Adangor cited “personal reasons” as the primary motivation behind the decision.

26 factional lawmakers hold plenary amid demolition

Meanwhile, the 26 members of the Rivers state house of assembly loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike held a plenary at the auditorium of the legislative quarters on Thursday, December 14.

The Nation reported that the lawmakers held their sitting a day after the state Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, demolished the house of assembly complex.

This is coming at a time when Governor Fubara signed the 2024 appropriation bill into law.
