2023 Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge

We invite you to the finals of the 2023 Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge scheduled for December 12, 2023 at the Abuja Continental Hotel by 10am.

According to the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Nigeria’s unemployment rate will hit 37% in 2023. In another report, it is estimated that in Nigeria, more than 55.4% of youths between the ages of 18 and 35 are currently unemployed.

These and more were the reasons why the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa was founded in 2018 by Ugwumba Uche Nwosu with a mission to raise a new generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for Africa.

To contribute towards the reduction of the unemployment crisis ravaging the youth population in Nigeria, the Center launched the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge, an idea pitching and grant competition for young entrepreneurs and innovators who have ideas that can be transformed into business ventures or social enterprises.

Since its inception in 2018, the Center has supported the birth of over 5,000 SMEs across the 36 States plus the FCT and has built a community of over 20,000 young and women entrepreneurs in Africa.

Today, most of our beneficiaries have become employers of labour, thereby helping to reduce the unemployment crisis as well as contribute to Nigeria’s overall GDP.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is to officially announce the Commencement of the 2023 edition of the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge, which is the 6th in the series, and to invite you to the grand finale scheduled to be held in Abuja on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the Abuja Continental Hotel by 10 am.

Note, this annual challenge is open to every youth in Nigeria between 18 and 40 years, who has an idea that can be supported, no matter the sector.

Guess what? This year, over N10 million in grant prizes shall be won as we have increased our star prizes: 1st Prize (N1.5 million); 2nd Prize (N1 million); 3rd Prize (N700K); 4th Prize (N500K); 5th Prize (N300K) and N1 million consolation prizes.

That’s not all, we are also giving out more than N2 million to support women petty traders in the rural areas across the country under our U-Fund for Women.
