Current beauty ambassador for Umudim Nnewi, Anambra State  and Nollywood actress, Precious Chidinma Ikegwuonu is a 17-year old girl with a big mission in life. The undergraduate of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, is set to correct the widely held notion that Nollywood actresses are promiscuous.

In a chat with Potpourri, the youth culture ambassador highlighted her mission in Nollywood and what she stands for.

“I want to remove that impression some individuals have that, all the actresses in Nollywood are ‘Runs Girls’. I want to live a life people will emulate. I want to be unique. What am I saying? I am unique already but I want to make it official, so that the world will see that. I want the younger ones to look up to me as their role model,” she quipped.

Having featured in films like ‘The missing Pants’, ‘Lost in the Jungle,’ ,The Wicked King’, ‘The City Girls’, ‘Dangerous Romance,’ ‘The Students Birthday Party’ and having represented her community, Umudim, Nnewi, in the Miss Nnewi Pageant, she has been enjoying a sort of star status among her peers on campus and elsewhere.

“Some people want to get close to me, and take photographs with me, even before I got admission. Even some people I am not on talking terms with, would come to my house to greet or just hang around with me.  Sometimes, strange people would call and say they want to go into acting, that, I should link them up. Popularity has its advantages and some disadvantages, but I have been enjoying my new status,” she said.

Precious has no regret in being an actress. She revealed that, it was what she had always wanted and she could only revel in the joy it has brought her.

“I have always wanted to be an actress since my primary school days; to be famous and be unique and impact on my society. When I was smaller, I did watch Nigeria movies and I always said to myself, I must appear in that television, so that people can watch me too.

How I acted my first movie was a miracle, because I was the youngest there, and I wasn’t too perfect, but seriously I enjoyed it, At some point my friends would call me, ‘hey Presh I saw you now in a movie and I would be like, Wow so people are now watching me.’ Trust me, It’s a good feeling when you act, she gleefully added.
