Actor Gideon Okeke has raised concerns over alleged lack of hygiene on set, particularly with regards to costumes.
After participating in an epic movie production, Okeke said he returned home with rashes, which he linked to an animal skin tunic provided by the wardrobe department.
Gideon urged the wardrobe team to prioritise cleanliness and properly wash costumes before reusing them, warning that other actors might face similar issues if not addressed.
He emphasised that taking care of the costumes would cost nothing but would greatly benefit the industry.
He wrote on Instagram: “Them: Gideon! ….you should come out more. Do More of Some. NOLLYWOOD productions…The likes that your mates do…with animal skin tunics. Me: When big budget, cinema, streaming and theatre activity gets slow: AIIIIT cool…I’ll do it. Today’s reality : Well, I don go… and I don return. With a body full of rashes! Dear Wardrobe department…
“Before you give that wardrobe to somebody else to wear…unsuspecting as I WAS, do the entire Nollywood industry a CRYING favor… go and wash eeeeeeeT. It will cost you NOTHING, to CARE. Till when next I decide to come out again….Ijele is home. I Thank Yahweh for His protection and journey mercies”.
