Oga Bello Tells City People
Alhaji Adebayo Salami, popularly called Oga Bello, is a Movie Legend. He is one of the pioneers of the industry. City People recently interviewed him and he revealed how happy he is that many of his children have taken after him in the Movie industry. And they are very active and vibrant.
Although Femi Adebayo is the most visible of them all, there are other children of his who are equally doing so well. They are Sodiq Adebayo, Tope Adebayo, Rilwan Adebayo, Akeem Adebayo and Lara Adebayo.
They are playing big in different aspects of the industry. Tope is a Director. Rilwan is an Editor, while Akeem & Lara are actors. Femi Adebayo, and his other siblings are playing several roles in the industry.
Surprisingly, he told us that he insisted that all his children must go to school and become graduates, after which they then can do any thing they like.
He was happy when Femi decided to go and study Law.
Femi Adebayo is a Star actor. and Movie Producer, who started acting at the age of 7. Although Femi studied Law, he now majors in acting and production.
Oga Bello, explained that he did not force or insist that any one of them should be an Actor. He said he never in his life imagined that his children would take after him. “It’s their choice and all of them are graduates in different disciplines”, he explained. He said his first son did not even show any interest in the industry, but Femi, the second son, was the one who showed interest and his other son too, Sodiq.
He explained that Sodiq who is also in the Movie industry, is a graduate of Geology, and he had offered him a job, but he refused and said he wants to act, Oga Bello, said he saw their interests when they were little kids and he even tried to stop them from going to rehearsals with him so they could focus on their studies, but regardless, they didn’t disappoint him in their educations.
Although, he believed that the paths they chose were all God’s will, but unexpectedly Sodiq became a Production Manager. He revealed how he was going to shoot the movie about Lam Adesina’s life. Lam was the former Governor of Oyo State and a day to production, his Production Manager disappointed him. And he told Femi to go and manage the production. And while he was going, he took Sodiq along with him And they did exceptionally well.
He said Femi took after him in terms of Creativity. And that Femi studying Law was one decision that made him happy as a father, because he had wanted to study Law himself. So when he told him about his interest to study Law, he encouraged him and was very happy with him. He said he named Femi after Alhaji Olufemi Okunu who is a Big lawyer in Lagos and is also his godfather. But after completing his education, Femi told him again that he wanted to act in movies. He said he told him No. And asked about his career as a Lawyer and Femi told him he was just going to do it as a part time thing.
Oga Bello is happy now that he has a family of Movie people. Whenever Femi, conceives a movie idea, he will call his father and tell him about it, and also his younger ones and they all will sit together to plan it, and all their ideas and plans, have birthed lots of top notch movies.
He said initially he was always thinking about how Femi would be able to cope with the challenges of the industry, because he himself as his father had seen a lot in the industry and all he could do now is to Pray and motivate him.
Oga Bello, concluded that he is pleased with all of his children, and the joy he feels whenever he sees them is unmatched. He said they didn’t disappoint him in their educations or their homes, they are all doing well in all their endeavors.
