Mimi Whyte-Femi, the founder and CEO of Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa, one of Nigeria’s leading skincare brands operating in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, has opened up about her journey into the skincare industry. She revealed how her struggles with skin issues played a pivotal role in shaping her career and inspiring her passion for skincare and wellness.
In a chat with Potpourri, Mimi shared how her personal battle with skin problems guided her towards her life’s work.
“My business, Skin Therapy Beauty and Spa, is my first baby. Skincare and wellness are what I love to do. It all started with me—my own struggles with acne. At one point in my life, I tried every possible remedy, but nothing seemed to work. That frustration led me to research extensively, and I eventually formulated a solution that worked for my skin. From there, I began creating various products to address different skin concerns, including acne, signs of aging, discoloration, uneven skin tone, melasma, and sun damage. Today, I have multiple factories in different parts of the world dedicated to developing effective skincare solutions.”
Beyond skincare products, Mimi has equipped her branches with some of the world’s most sought-after aesthetic machines to provide advanced treatments.
“We offer state-of-the-art treatments such as laser hair removal, Neo-Emsculpt (which builds muscle and breaks down fat), HIFU treatment (which contours and lifts the face and body), stretch mark removal, and tattoo removal, among others.”
She emphasized that her success did not come easily.
“None of this happened overnight. There were challenges along the way, but determination was key. With hard work and God on my side, I feel blessed to be here today, continuing to break barriers, lead in my field, and grow.”
