Israel – A report by BBC indicates that the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, was on Sunday, June 13, ousted by the country’s parliament.

Netanyahu’s removal is coming after the legislative assembly voted in a new coalition government putting an end to his 12-year hold on power.

Reuters also confirming the development noted that Naftali Bennett, the head of an ultranationalist party has been sworn in as the nation’s prime minister.

The 71-year-old who was one of Israel’s longest-serving leaders came into power after serving the five terms from 1996 to 1999. He then again from 2009.

It was gathered that Netanyahu failed to win enough support to form a new coalition government after four elections in over two years.

His repeated failure to clinch victory has been attributed to his ongoing corruption trial, which he has denied.

Mali’s president, prime minister resign in detention

Meanwhile, what started as an arrest and detention for the president of Mali, Bah Ndaw, and the prime minister, Moctar Ouane, ended up as forced resignation of the duo on Wednesday, May 26.

Ndaw and Ouane resigned during mediation efforts on Wednesday, according to Baba Cisse, the special advisor to the junta head, Assimi Goita.

Both men were earlier detained by soldiers on Monday, May 24. The arrest of the country’s interim government officials is following a cabinet reshuffle in the sub-Saharan African country just nine months after its previous leader was toppled by a military coup.

Chad’s president dies at 68

Idriss Deby, the president of Chad, is dead. An Army spokesman whose name was not mentioned said on Tuesday, April 20, that the president died of injuries suffered on the frontline.

Derby’s death came a day after he won a sixth term as the country’s election results were just released on Monday, April 19. The 68-year-old president came to power in a rebellion in 1990.
