Breaking: Photos emerge as Atiku visits former President Obasanjo in Abeokuta


  • Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has paid a visit to his former boss, ex-President Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state

Abeokuta, Ogun state – Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president paid a visit to ex-President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his penthouse residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Atiku who made this known in a tweet sighted by Legit.ng on Saturday, February 26, said it was delightful seeing his former boss. He was Obasanjo’s Vice during his reign between 1999 and 2007.

According to the 2019 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate the visit was a courtesy visit at his Abeokuta residence.

While the former VP did not share details of the visit, it may not be unconnected to the PDP chieftain’s 2023 presidential ambition. He also vied for the presidential seat in 2007, 2011 and 2019.

Atiku arrived at the penthouse residence located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, around 10am and went straight into a closed door meeting.

Although the former Vice President has not officially declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election, he has commenced consultation.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that ahead of 2023, Atiku paid a visit to a former military head of state, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, at his Uphill residence in Minna.

The duo had a closed-door meeting which lasted for an hour on Tuesday, February 1.

Speaking to newsmen, Atiku said:

“I have only come on a visit, I will let you know about my presidential ambition at the appropriate time.”

Meanwhile, Atiku debunked reports claiming he had a meeting with some governors and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a tweet sighted by Legit.ng, Paul Ibe, Atiku’s media aide, said the former vice president on Saturday, January 22, paid a condolence visit to Alhaji Dahiru Mangal in Katsina over the loss of his mother and met some APC governors and leaders there.

Ibe wrote:

“H.E @atiku did not have a meeting with govs & leaders of APC as is being promoted in some quarters. The former VP visited Alhaji Dahiru Mangal in Katsina on 22nd of Jan to commiserate with him over the loss of his mother & some govs & leaders of APC also visited at the same time.”
