Bauchi state – A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has lost his mother, Saratu Yakubu, at the age of 103.

Dogara disclosed this in a statement issued via his X page (formerly known as Twitter) @YakubDogara on Friday evening, December 22.

He noted that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

“It is with utmost gratitude and total submission to the will of God Almighty that we announce the transition to glory of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Mama Saratu Yakubu Tukur, which occurred today, Friday, December 22, 2023, at the age of 103 years.”

Dogara who was the Speaker of the 8th Assembly between June 2015 to June 2019, represented Dass/Tafawa Balewa/ Bogoro Constituency

Meanwhile, Legit.ng Dogara revealed why he is leading the campaign to unseat Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state.

He said the political stakeholders in Bauchi state had tested their strength and were ready to top the contest.

The former lawmaker disclosed this on Channels TV on Wednesday night, March 15, adding that he and the governor can be described as “unstable politicians.”

Dogara dumped the PDP to support the APC governorship candidate in Bauchi state.

Dogara had earlier dumped the APC for the PDP over the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket and vehemently campaigned for Atiku during the presidential election.

But the former speaker has now been seen campaigning for the APC governorship candidate in Bauchi, urging the people to walk the path of honour.

The former lawmaker had strongly criticised Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, since the latter announced Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running mate.

After lengthy criticism, Dogara announced support for Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and subsequently got appointed to the PDP presidential campaign council.
