The statement reads:
“It is with a heavy heart, sorrow, and sympathy that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, regrets to announce the passing away of His Excellency, Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the former Governor of Yobe.”
It was also reported that the former governor died in Saudi-Germ in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, February 4, The Punch said.
Profile of late ex-Yobe Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim
Ibrahim served as the governor of Yobe state from January 1992 to November 1993 in the third republic.
At the beginning of the fourth republic, he was re-elected under the umbrella of the defunct All-Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) in 1999 and served for two terms.
In 2007, he was elected to represent Yobe East senatorial district and stepped down for the current minister of police affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, in 2019.

Namibian President Geingob is dead, presidency says
Legit.ng earlier reported that Namibian President Hage Geingob died on Sunday morning at 81, as confirmed by the presidency.
Vice President Nangolo Mbumba will take over control of the country until the presidential and parliamentary elections at the end of the year.
The presidency did not reveal the cause of Geingob’s death, but it was recalled that he travelled to the United States late last month for cancer treatment.
