Tinubu moves to stop the release of his US documents

Tinubu filed a fresh motion before a United States District Court of Columbia to stop the country’s agencies from releasing records related to his residence in the country, Daily Trust reported.

The defendants in the suit are identified as the Executive Office for US Attorneys, the US Department of State, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the US Department of the Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Sahara Reporters confirmed that the application was brought by Tinubu as an intervenor following a Freedom of Information request dated July 21, 2022, made by an IT consultant, Aaron Greenspan.

Although the US agencies had reportedly claimed that the details of the president’s files would not be made public until 2026 for what was termed “unusual circumstances”, the applicants have however, continued to push for the early release of the documents.

Chicago certificate: “Overrule Tinubu on fresh evidence”, Atiku begs Supreme Court

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, has again asked the Supreme Court to jettison technicality and grant his application for leave to tender fresh and additional evidence.

Atiku on Wednesday, October 18, urged the Supreme Court to allow him to present fresh evidence to support his claim that President Tinubu, submitted forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the poll.

Atiku predicated his plea on the grounds that presenting forged documents by any candidate, especially by one for the highest office in the land, is a grave constitutional issue that must not be encouraged.

‘Trash Atiku’s ‘fresh evidence’’, Tinubu

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Tinubu argued that the Supreme Court cannot at this stage admit the fresh evidence sought to be tendered by Atiku in his appeal challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.

The Nigerian leader urged the apex court to reject the purported fresh evidence from Atiku and his party, the PDP. The former vice-president claimed to have obtained the ‘fresh evidence’ from the Chicago State University.

Omokri responds to claims he’s abandoned Atiku, supporting Tinubu, APC

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a chieftain of the PDP, Reno Omokri, has said he remains a member of the main opposition party.

Omokri in a video shared on his YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) pages on Monday, October 16, said he is not supporting President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated that he has validated President Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) certification since September 2022.
