Carol Vorderman says she will use her voice to “cause a commotion” after landing a new radio show following her BBC exit.

The former Countdown co-host left Radio Wales in November over the corporation’s social media guidelines.

Announcing her return to live radio, Vorderman said she was “looking forward to returning to a medium that I love”.

Vorderman will present a show on LBC between 4pm and 7pm on Sundays, having guest presented on the station since her departure from the BBC.

“I won’t be shy to say things that others won’t and I’ll hold the corrupt to account without fear or favour,” she said.

New social media guidelines were introduced by the BBC last year after Match Of The Day presenter Gary Lineker was temporarily taken off air after he criticised the government’s asylum policy.

Last year, Vorderman said BBC Wales management had “decided” she “must leave” as she had “breached the new guidelines”.

She was told by bosses that the new guidelines would apply to “all and any content” she posted throughout the year, but she did not want to lose the ability to express her “strong beliefs” on “the political turmoil this country finds itself in”.

Speaking to the Sky News Daily podcast before she left the BBC, Vorderman said she would “wait and see” what the guidelines were and “make a decision based on that”.

A BBC spokesperson said at the time of her departure: “Carol has been a presenter on BBC Radio Wales since 2018.

“We’d like to thank her for her work and contribution to the station over the past five years.”
