The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has issued a strong warning to job seekers over fraudulent messages claiming that recruitment into the civil service has not yet started.

One of the misleading messages sent to unsuspecting applicants read:

“Dear Applicants,

We are yet to commence shortlisting. The portal is still collecting applications until Monday 11th August 2025. Please note that the recruitment process is absolutely FREE at all stage

Beware of fraudsters.”

However, the government has confirmed that shortlisting is already in progress, and the public should disregard any messages suggesting otherwise.

In addition, another suspicious message claimed that applicants were required to pay a clearance fee of N1,250 to a so-called “Federal Government Human Resource Consultant” for a provisional offer of appointment at the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

The fake message stated:

“Pay to the account detail as indicated to a revenue collection officer… for your posting and provisional offer of appointment at the CDCFIB.”

FCSC spokesperson confirms screening is ongoing

As reported by Punch, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the FCSC, Mr Taiwo Hassan, confirmed that the recruitment process is fully underway.
