The president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, has dared Governor Nasir El Rufai to arrest him.

Wabba made the statement after the Kaduna governor declared him wanted for economic sabotage.

The NLC president told The Tribune that the protest was about workers in the state and not about him.

The labour leader said:

”Let him come and arrest me. It is not about me.

We are here and waiting for them.”

According to The Nation, Ayuba led the second-day protest from NLC secretariat at Golf Course road to NEPA Roundabout on Ahmadu Bello Way through Independence Way to Muhammadu Buhari Way.

NLC president Ayuba Wabba, others declared wanted over alleged economic sabotage in Kaduna had earlier reported that Governor Rufai accused Wabba and other members of the organised labour of attacking public infrastructure under the Miscellaneous Offences Act.

The governor added that there would be a handsome reward for anybody who gives details about the NLC boss.

Meanwhile, armed thugs attacked protesting workers in Kaduna state on Tuesday, May 18.

Channels TV reported that the hoodlums invaded the area and started throwing stones and other dangerous weapons at the workers.

The incident reportedly occurred at the popular NEPA roundabout in the Kaduna capital city.

In another report, the Arewa group in the nineteen northern states has condemned in strong terms the ongoing strike action in Kaduna state.’s regional reporter in Kaduna, Nasir Dambatta, reports that the group, which operates under the aegis of Arewa Initiative for Good Governance, spoke through its convener, Salisu Tanko Wusono, who addressed a press conference in Kaduna on Monday, May 17.

The group also crticised the leadership of the NLC for falling prey to the antics of some opposition politicians, whose nefarious project is how to destabilise the state because of their self-induced envy of the achievements of Governor Nasir Elrufai since assumption of the office in 2015.

Meanwhile, members of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) in Kaduna have been ordered by the leadership of the association to suspended their services in the state.

The crucial directive, given in a letter signed by NUPENG’s general secretary, Afolabi Olawale, is in adherence to the NLC’s five-day working strike, Daily Nigerian reports.

The agency’s boss explained that compliance with the directive was necessary for the thorough execution of the campaign against alleged anti-labour practices of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
