As They Bury Their Dad In Grand Style
On 30th and 31st of May 2024, the families of late Pa Micheal Idowu Oladunni, gave him a carnival like befitting burial. The burial which lasted for two days with wake keep and final burial ceremony had began even before the two days events proper in Okeagbe. In this report, FAKEYE ADERONKE and SUNDAY OYEMADE bring you reports and pictures of the event.

THE OLADUNNIS OF OKE AGBE
The Oladunni family of Okeagbe, Akoko Ondo State are notable and a well respected family. They are noted to be leaders, mentors and encourager of good things within Ondo State and particularly in Okeagbe. They have made lots of contributions to the people of Okeagbe and Ondo State generally. In fact, the family cannot be forgotten due to their legacies. One of the patriach who is the younger brother to the deceased , OTUNBA, Asiwaju Solomon Oladunni too is notable man in the society. He is the Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Akoko and the Asiwaju of Oke Agbe. He is a renowned philantropist and has contributed immensely to the growth of Okeagbe. The Oladunnis have impacted greatly to Okeagbe kingdom and their impacts cannot be forgotten. Pa Micheal Idowu Oladunni who was the patriach of the family was buried and good things were said about him, people from all works of life came to honour him due to his contributions one way or the other to their lives.

THE WAKE KEEP
The wake keep was on Thursday 30th of May. The event was led by the Revd and members of St. George Anglican Church Okeabge Akoko Ondo. The event was a carnival like as well. All the children were clad in white and blue outfit to honour their father. Everyone paid tribute to late Pa Oladunni at the event. In-laws, family members, well wishers and those late Pa Oladunni had impacted one way or the other all came to honour him at the wake keep.

OTUNBA ASIWAJU SOLOMON OLADUNNI,THE CHIEF HOST
OTUNBA Asiwaju Solomon Oladunni was the chief host. He is the immediate younger brother to the deceased. He is the Asiwaju of Oke Agbe. A philantropist, leader, and a business man of high repute. He stood by with the children of his late brother to make sure everything went well. He has been a father figure right from onset and during the burial of his brother, he was on ground to make sure that he was given a befitting burial.
He and his amiable wife honoured his late brother. He spoke extensively about their growing up years of over seventy years together and how his late brother would scold and discipline him if he did anything contrary which he believes has helped him to be who he is today. Asiwaju Solomon was a former Vice Chairman Exxon Mobil, former Chairman of Petroleum and Gas Sector of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, Chairman Oil Explorers and Producers Trade Group and so many positions he has occupied and chaired. He has contributed immensely to the growth of Okeagbe and given out scholarships to Okeagbe indegenes.

WHO IS LATE PA MICHEAL IDOWU OLADUNNI
Pa Micheal Idowu Oladunni was born on April 5 1942 in Okeagbe Akoko North West Ondo State. He passed on to the great beyond on the 29th of March 2024. He attended Victory College Ikare, and later proceeded to the College of Medicine, Idi Araba Lagos where he dedicated 35 years of his life ensuring the smooth running of the Administrative Operations of the College. He got married to his lovely wife Madam Victoria Abiye in December 1972 and the marriage was blessed with five children.
Late Pa Oladunni was a dedicated chorister right from his youthful age, he is also a prayer warrior and exemplified his devotion to God through his beliefs and life styles. He would always head his family in morning devotion every day during his life time and he puts God first in all his dealings. He is a commited member of the Anglican Church. He is regarded as a spiritual father to many . He has also contributed in one way or the other to financial activities within the church. Always extending helping hands to family and friends. He was regarded as a man of principle who instille values, discipline and responsibilities in the younger generation which has earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Pa Micheal Oladunni leaves behind the legacy of love, compassion and service.

ENGR. OLUMUYIWA OLADUNNI PLAYED HOST, SUPPORTED HIS SIBLINGS
The deceased first child, Engr. Olumuyiwa too was a great host. He and his siblings gave their father a carnival like befitting burial. He has been in Oke Agbe weeks before the burial ceremony started and he made sure things were put in place. Let quickly tell you about him. Engr. Olumuyiwa Oladunni is the first and eldest child of the deceased. He is a cool, well composed and discipline guy. Despite the fact that he is the eldest, he rallied round his siblings and supported. He was not tensed throughout the whole event despite the stress, yet he was well composed and attended to everyone in good manners. He is a Lagos big boy. Ever bubbling person. Always and ever happy. There is never a dull moment with him. He works with the Oil & Gas sector and his clients cuts across the IOCs (International Oil Companies) in Nigeria.
He made sure people were well taken care of. He was indeed a great host to friends and well wishers who came to celebrate his father. This show that he was well brought up.
He claimed his father left a good legacy for him and his siblings. His wisdom is second to non as he describe Asiwaju as his father and he never ceased to say he was blessed with two father’s, his late father and his Dad’s brother Asiwaju Oladunni who he claimed thought him the financial aspect of life.
He thought him to go through the right path in life to achieve goals. Blessed with a beautiful wife Olufunmilayo, they were composed, looked handsome and beautifully radiant all through the events.

AND SHE DESCRIBED HIM AS HIS OWN FATHER
Engr. Okumuyiwa’s wife Funmilayo will miss her father in law. She described Baba as her own father . She just can’t forget in a hurry before she got married to his son when she fell sick, it was her father-in-law who took her to the hospital, paid the bill even before his son came back. She said baba took her as his own daughter. Funmilayo works with federal Medical Center in Lagos.

AND HIS SIBLINGS ALSO
The children of late Pa Micheal Idowu Oladunni are Engr. Olumuyiwa an Engineer of Repute, Tolutope who is a renowned business woman, Oluniyi, Oluseun and Titilope who works in the banking sector. They are all doing well in their respective endeavours. They all describe their father as a loving father who has a very large heart.

OKEAGBE COMMUNITY, FAMILIES AND FRIENDS HONOURED THE OLADUNNIS
The family, friends and Oke Agbe community honoured the Oladunnis. The event had so many dignitaries in attendance.

- TUNJI ABAYOMI’S SPECIAL RENDITION FOR THE DECEASED
- Tunji ABAYOMI is the PRO Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Ondo State. He is also a renowned constitutional lawyer who has been contributing to Nigeria as a whole. He is from Oke Agbe and he came to honour the Oladunnis to pay tribute to Pa Oladunni . He described the deceased as a community leader, a mentor, inspirator and an encourager. He also describe the Oladunnis family as a wonderful family who have made lots of contributions.
One thing about Dr. ABAYOMI is his special rendition of songs at the church service. He claims the late Principal of Ajuwa Grammar School, Dr. Guy Garguilo thought him to sing and that late Pa Micheal Oladunni was a singer too and he thought it was appropriate to honour him some songs.

MEET DR
JONATHAN ABE
Dr. Abe, is a Consultant Radiologist. He described the deceased as a free, firm and friendly person. He knew the late Oladunni in 1982 when he was seeking admission to medical school and he said Baba assisted him and when he got to Lagos, he had to put up in his place. He described Baba’s children as his siblings and they see him as a big brother.

OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS TOO
Amongst the well wishers who came are Mr Funso Aluko who regarded the deceased as an in law. Seun Oladunni, one of Baba’s son is married to his sister who is like a daughter to him. He described him as as a kind man who always encouraged them all to believe in God.

MEET DR. OLUSOGA SOFOLAHAN
Dr. OLUSOGA SOFOLAHAN is also from Okeagbe. Late Pa Micheal Oladunni and his grand mum are from the same father. His grand mum first, then the deceased mum followed directly. They are first cousins. He described the deceased as a good man. Dr. OLUSOGA is Olori Omo Alaafin Adimula of Afa Okeagbe and the Olori Omo Oba of Ido OkeagbeKingdom. He also gave a special rendition at the church service for his Uncle. This handsome Oil & Gas big boy works in the Oil & Gas sector. He holds a PhD in Economics.

AND TAC FUNERAL TOOK CHARGE
The funeral service was handled by TAC funerals. Tola Adesuyi Company. They are into funerals and Cemetery Services. Their base is at Lagere, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The Oladunnis went for the best funeral service as they choose to give the best burial ceremony to their late father.
It was a horse ride to honour the deceased led by the undertakers. The way and manner the undertakers carried the casket and danced from the deceased home to the church was beauty to behold which should it was indeed a celebration of life.

OTHER FAMILY MEMEBERS WERE NOT LEFT BEHIND
Family members and friends of the Oladunnis such as Rt. Hon. Aderomoye Samuel, the former Deputy Speaker of Ondo State spoke extensively about the deceased. He came to honour the deceased who he regards as a big brother. He claimed Baba has defeated his enemy which is death.
However, Engr. Deji Oladunni describe Baba as a loving father. He claimed Baba’s children and him all grew up together in unity and love. He described Baba as his own father, whom he said his kind of person as a disciplinarian impressed him.
MRSÂ ESTHER IKIRI. She said late Pa Micheal Oladunni is the husband to her first cousin. She described Baba as a wonderful man who was loving, caring and always ready to help. She described Baba as someone who loved and feared God.

OLADUNNI FAMILY DONATED 10MILLION NAIRA WORTH OF SOLAR TO ST. GEORGE ANGLICAN CHURCH
Before the corpse left the church to be intered, after the Thanksgiving Service, the Oladunni families led by Asiwaju Solomon Oladunni led the children in donating a 10million naira worth of Solar Energy to the church in appreciation of what God has done for them.

AT THE RECEPTION
The reception was well decorated as Marquee tent was mounted at the St. George Primary School field Okeagbe immediately after interment service. Boye Best was on the band stand rendering melodeous songs to the admiration of all. There were enought to eat and drink as guests were treated to sumptuous meals and delicacies.
