ESN Members in Trouble as Police Plan to Charge Them for Murder ▷ Nigeria news

A message has been sent to membes of the Eastern Security Network linked and Indigenous People of Biafra.

The message was sent by the Imo state commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, Punch Newspaper reports.

According to the commissioner, his command would arraign arrested members of ESN and charge them for murder.

The CP alleged that the members are unleashing violent crimes on the state.

He said razing public infrastructure and killing of security operatives were an act of terrorism, Independent Newspaper added.

He said:

“The law is very explicit on this. We will charge them for murder. Their activities are terrorism. They were unleashing violent crimes on the state until we decimated them in three explosive battles in the last six weeks.

“I have moved my Tactical Units to the hinterlands because they have relocated to the villages because of the defeats they suffered at our hands in the last three explosive battles in the last six weeks.”

In another report, the Imo state police command has arrested a native doctor who prepares charms for members of the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and the military wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Nigerian troops invade ESN camp in Imo state

Also, also reported that Nigerian security operatives have destroyed one of the camps of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The invasion of the camp was carried out by operatives of the army, police, and Nigerian Air Force. The dismantling of the camp reportedly took place at Amii-Akabo in Ikeduru local government area of the state.

A police source quoted in the report revealed that one of the gang members, Osinachi Stanley, led troops to the camp where a female police inspector was being held in captivity was rescued.

Meanwhile, Maurice Iwu, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has blamed all the indigenes of Imo for the current insecurity situation in the state.

Iwu who is also from the state claimed that the silence and complicity of Imo indigenes allowed the insecurity to fester.

He also noted that “no matter who is causing the problem from outside, there must be some participation by Imo people for that to happen”.
