- Marcus Rashford continues to divide opinion after a slow start to the season at Manchester United
- The England star has scored three goals, but fans and pundits have questioned his commitment and attitude
- Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has offered advice to the winger on how to get to love him
Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford has hit the headlines in the opening weeks of the season.
The England international has not performed consistently, and fans have heavily criticised him.
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has advised the winger on how to regain the fans’ love.
The Man United academy product managed 30 goals in the 2022/23 season but has yet to match that since, per Transfermarkt.
Last season, he scored eight goals as Man United produced their worst Premier League finish. This season, he has had ups and downs and is still searching for consistency.
Liverpool legend Michael Owen has given the forward some advice on how he can get back on the good side of fans.
“There are so many little wins in life that you can use to make yourself feel better about yourself, to make your team-mates love you even more, to make your fans love you,” he said via Manchester Evening News.
“If I was not in a massively confident mood, I would close people down, I would sprint and try to block clearances, and I would work as hard as I could…there’ll be a couple of thousand people that get off the seat and clap you and chant your name. You will feel better about yourself.”
Rashford will be aiming for a better return on Sunday when they face Tottenham Hotspur in what is expected to be an intense match.
