FCT, Abuja – The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been urged to lift the three-year suspension ban placed on Ejikeme Mmesoma from sitting the Unified Tartary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The House of Representatives made the call on Wednesday, July 19, following Mmesoma’s confession to having manipulated her UTME result from 249 to 362, TVC New reported.

Mmesoma apologized throughout the hearing and pleaded with JAMB to reconsider the board’s three-year ban.

The House Ad-hoc Committee, led by Sada Soli, is looking into the suspected manipulation of JAMB facilities in an effort to prevent a similar incident from occurring again.

While Hon. Awaji-Inombek Abiante’s motion asking independent examiners to cross-check Mmesoma’s script was accepted by the House in order to assess the embattled teenager’s UTME score.

Mmesoma Ejikeme, the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate accused of inflating her results by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has again apologised to the examination board.

The 19-year-old girl read her letter of apology to the House of Representatives Investigative Ad Hoc Committee hearing, which Professor Sade Solo headed.

The House of Representatives had ordered the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suspend all actions against Mmesoma Ejikeme’s Unified Tartary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result saga.

The lower chamber of the National Assembly gave the direction on Wednesday, July 5, after Hon Awaji-Inombek D. Abiante sponsored a bill calling on the House to investigate the alleged manipulation.

House of Reps Asks JAMB to Extend Validity of UTME Result to 3 Years, Conduct Exam Twice per Year

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been urged to extend the validity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results from one to three years.

A member of the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi, who made the call, also charged JAMB to conduct the UTME at least twice a year.
