GADA awards show holds amid glamour, glitz

The much anticipated Global African Diaspora Awards (GADA) took place on Saturday, September 21 at the Park 8 event center in Houston, Texas, USA.

The event had in attendance the crème de la crème of the global African diaspora celebrities who came from different parts of the globe. Eight African beauty queens, which include former Miss Universe Nigeria, Hannah Onosetale Felix, and Miss Diaspora Nigeria USA 2024, Oyemen Ehikhamhen, attended the awards show, which was filled with pomp and pageantry and dubbed the most glamorous event of the year.

Also in attendance were oil and gas executives, tech and healthcare professionals, legal professionals, entrepreneurs, business leaders, entertainment executives, community leaders, influencers, artists, among others. The climax of the show was the fashion show put together by BCD Fashion House, where the models did a spectacular show.

In his opening remarks, the founder and executive producer of the GADA Awards, Obi-West Uchechukwu, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries who attended the event and the honorees.

He stated that in a few years, the GADA Awards will be hosted in different countries, starting with France followed by Nigeria.

GADA aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding Africans in the diaspora who are changing the narrative and making our voices heard in their chosen fields. The award show is produced by Diaspora Glitz Magazine, an Afrocentric magazine that amplifies the global African diaspora voice.

Some of those honoured at the show, include Houston-based Victor O Ibe , who bagged Excellence in Tech Award, DJ Freshy K, also based in Houston, who bagged The African DJ of the year award.. Entertainer of the Year award went to Ms Jorji Austin(USA), while The African Think Tank, Houston, bagged the Organization of the Year award.
