When you think of Adeyinka Ogunjimi better known as Whykay words like versatile, talented and dedicated comes to mind. Whykay is an actress, rapper, content creator and budding music producer.
In an interview with Potpourri, she noted that she embraces her femininity but her work speaks louder.
“I’ve had moments where people were surprised that I’m not just about aesthetics—I produce, I write, I strategize, and I’m constantly evolving. But instead of fighting against those perceptions, I challenge them simply by existing in my truth. Of course I embrace my femininity but my work speaks louder than any stereotype placed on me”.
On how she balances the different facets of her career, she said: “I approach my career like an ecosystem—each aspect feeds into the other. It’s all about time management, discipline, and understanding when to prioritize each craft. I don’t see them as separate but as different expressions of the same creative energy. Staying curious and constantly learning keeps me balanced, so I don’t feel boxed in by just one identity. It’s not as easy as it seems though “.
She also added that a healthy relationship is a function of mutual respect:” I believe a healthy relationship is built on mutual respect, emotional intelligence, and honest communication. Love isn’t just about feelings—it’s about being intentional in your actions and making space for your partner to be themselves. I also think independence is key; you should complement each other, not complete each other. A strong relationship should feel like a safe space where both people can grow without fear of judgment”.
On the societal expectations the society has about women’s body, she said:”Society usually place women in a box! Either you fit the “ideal” beauty standard, or you’re overlooked. In entertainment, this means women are sometimes judged more on their appearance than their talent, and in relationships, it can create pressure to be “desirable” rather than real. But I believe real success and real love come from being seen for who you truly are. A woman should never feel like she has to shrink or mold herself into an unrealistic standard just to be valued. The right people will always recognize your worth beyond just how you look”.
