Julianah Abejide launches new platform with ‘Edge of Darkness’ debut

By Juliet Ebirim

Award-winning Sudbury-based tech professional, Julianah Abejide, is stepping into a new creative space with the launch of her faith-based storytelling platform, The Priesthood Productions.

Her debut short film, “Edge of Darkness,” which is set to premiere on YouTube this Easter, is a deeply personal project inspired by the real-life struggles and unwavering faith of the Nigerian diaspora in Canada.

The project is more than just a film for Abejide; it’s a reflection of her own transformative journey. Leaving the familiar world of IT boardrooms to embrace visual storytelling, her transition embodies the very hope and transformation her platform aims to ignite.

“‘Edge of Darkness’ is truly a piece of my heart. It was born from seeing the quiet battles many of us who’ve moved abroad face, that feeling that even when you reach for a better life, there can be unexpected hardships. This film is about those moments when your faith is the only anchor, and grace steps in as the unexpected lifeline.” She explained.

The film boasts a talented cast including Eseosa Bernard, Ayobami Awe and Soledayo Adegbite, among others.

Abejide, a strong advocate for women and youth in technology, sees this new venture as an extension of her commitment to giving voice to important narratives.

“As someone who champions women and youth in technology, I also felt a calling to explore the emotional and spiritual landscapes we navigate. ‘Edge of Darkness’ is my way of giving voice to those often-unspoken experiences.” She added.

A recipient of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship and a seasoned IT professional with over a decade of experience in business analysis and tech-driven projects, Abejide’s passion lies in connecting innovation, creativity and making real social impact.
