Just In: Protest As Gunmen Invade Nasarawa University Community, Kidnap 10 Students

Nasarawa state, Lafia – An emerging report has it that about 10 students of the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa state, have been kidnapped.

Protests break out in Lafia over kidnap of students at Federal University

The Punch reported that the students were abducted in the early hours of Thursday, December 7, by bandits in the Gandu community, far away from the institution.

Confirming the development, a resident of the area who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the gunmen invaded the student community at about 2:00 am on Thursday, and carried out the operation that lasted for about two hours.

Leadership reported that the undergraduate students were currently writing their examinations.

Speaking on the incident, the public relations officer of the University, Abubakar Ibrahim, said the total number of students abducted had yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the students of the university have taken action and embarked on a peaceful protest demanding an end to the incessant kidnapping of their colleagues.

Also reacting, the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed that the details of the kidnap were still sketchy, Daily Trust report added.

Kidnappers demand N20 million to release Abuja landlords

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that gunmen kidnapped two landlords in the Asokoro extension area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The gunmen attacked on Sunday, December 3, and are demanding N20 million as ransom for the release of the victims.

The armed men pointed a gun at one of the landlords in the area whom they used to gain access to the second victim, also a landlord.

Gunmen kidnap Catholic priest in Imo

Legit.ng also reported that a Catholic priest, Rev Fr Kingsley Eze, popularly known as Father Ichie, had been kidnapped alongside another person identified as Uchenna Newman by unknown gunmen.

Father Ichie is the priest in charge of St. Michael’s Catholic Church Parish in Umuekebi, Osuoweerre autonomous community in the Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo state.

It was gathered that the priest and Newman, who drove the priest in a Volvo jeep, were kidnapped at Orieama Junction around 8:00pm on Thursday, November 30.
