The posts, police say, were carefully crafted to damage the reputation of the actress, even though the defendant allegedly knew they were false.
The charge read:
“She knowingly shared false statements and rumours about Lizzy Anjorin, which contravenes sections 39, 57, and 150 of the Lagos Criminal Laws.”
The accusations are serious, carrying legal weight under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Kofoworola pleads not guilty
The accused pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor urged the court to remand her in custody, arguing that the charges are weighty and the investigation is still ongoing.
However, her lawyer swiftly applied for bail, saying the offences were bailable and that the defendant would not interfere with investigations.
Chief Magistrate Wahab Balogun granted the request, setting bail at ₦100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must show evidence of tax payment and reside within Lagos.
