Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Raises Alarm Of Alleged Plan To Arrest Her, Gives Reason

New York, United States – Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has raised an alarm of a plan by security officials to arrest her upon her return to Nigeria from the United States of America (USA).

Legit.ng recall that Akpoti-Uduaghan informed the IPU of her six months suspension from the Senate and sexual harassment allegations against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The Kogi central senator said to plan to get her arrested is link to her participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting in New York on 11 March.

As reported by Premium Times, Akpoti-Uduaghan made this known during a telephone interview on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

“I’m aware there are plans underway to have me arrested as soon as I arrive Abuja,”

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, however, did not disclose which of the security agencies was plotting her arrest.

She also alleged that the senate president, Godswill Akpabio, sent three officials to forcibly remove her from the United Nations premises after her speech at the IPU meeting.

According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the team was led by the Chargé d’affairs of the Nigerian Embassy in New York

“The Senate President Akpabio sent three staff headed by the Chargè D’Affairs of the Nigerian embassy in New York to evacuate me from the United Nations premises right after my speech. I was rescued by parliamentarians from other countries and the security,”

The suspended Kogi Central Senator disclosed that she registered online and got a pass to attend the IPU meeting.

Akpoti-Uduaghan explained the reason she was successful with the registration despite not being officially nominated by the Nigerian government.

Legit.ng also reported that intelligent agencies are reportedly probing Akpoti-Uduaghan’s participation at the IPU meeting in New York, USA.

The suspended Kogi Central senator attended the IPU meeting without the approval of the federal government of Nigeria.

The State Security Service (SSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), operatives are probing Akpoti-Uduaghan’s participation.

Senate takes decision after Natasha reported Akpabio to IPU

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that a vote of confidence was passed on the Senate president on Thursday, March 13, 2025 during plenary.

The vote of confidence in Akpabio was passed following a motion moved by Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.

The Senate took the decision during plenary after suspended Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan reported Akpabio to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in New York, United States.
