Singer and filmmaker Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz’s action drama, ‘Hakeem: Seeking Justice,’ premiere witnessed the presence of Nollywood heavyweights and cast members including Bolanle Ninolowo, Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Skales, and Liquorose.
The much-anticipated action drama premiered on Sunday, July 27, at Filmhouse Cinemas, Lagos, with a star-studded turnout and energetic moments that set the tone for its official cinema release on August 1.
A major highlight of the evening was the live performance of the film’s official soundtrack performed by Ninolowo, Okanlawon, Skales, and Zubby Michael, earning applause from the audience.
Speaking at the event, JJC Skillz noted that the film was his deliberate attempt to push the boundaries of Nollywood’s action genre.
“We’ve conquered drama, epic and most genres of movie except for two action and horror which I’ve not seen a Nigerian producer or movie company actually do the way it should be,” he said.
“Intentionally, we have car chases, car stunts, almost ten fight sequences and explosions. I’m talking about an all-out chaos action film that we would expect from Hollywood but done in Nollywood.”
Hakeem: Seeking Justice stars Deyemi Okanlawon in the lead role as a man entangled in grief, betrayal, and a broken justice system. It also features Chioma Chukwuka, Gabriel Afolayan, Regina Daniels, Ali Nuhu, White Money, and others.
Produced under Afristar Media and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the film explores societal themes through a genre lens, marking a shift toward action-driven storytelling in Nigerian cinema.
