Popular Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, widely known as Mr P, has advised fans to recognise their value and never settle for less, especially in environments where they are not appreciated.
Mr P made the remarks while reacting to a fan’s social media post that celebrated his growth from being labelled “just a dancer” to becoming a successful singer. The fan highlighted how Mr P defied public doubt about his vocal abilities, writing: “Person wey them talk say him no sabi sing say na dance him dey dance na him come sabi sing pass… false narrative.”
In response, Mr P emphasized the importance of self-respect and encouraged individuals to walk away from situations where their efforts go unrecognised.
“Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy,” he added, urging followers to embrace their worth and reject limiting labels.
Responding, Peter wrote: ‘’But sadly, most people fall for it. In this life, always know your worth. Don’t settle for less, and never stay where you’re not valued or respected. Respect yourself enough to leave any place where your efforts are not appreciated. #TheyLied’”.
