State House, Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr Temitope Ilori as the new Director General of the National Agency For The Control of AIDS (NACA).
Dr. Ilori, who replaced Dr Gambo Aliyu is the first female to be appointed director general of the agency.
The Head of Public Relations and Protocol of NACA, Toyin Aderibigbe disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, March 14, The Punch reported.
Before her appointment as NACA DG, she was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine, University of Ibadan, and a Consultant Family Physician in the Department of Family Medicine, University College Hospital, Ibadan.
According to Vanguard, Dr. Ilori graduated as the best graduating Fellow of the Faculty of Family Medicine, West African College of Physicians in April 2012 winning the A.O. Senbanjo Prize
“She is a prolific researcher who has co-authored over 30 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
“She has been involved in policy formulation and strategic development. She was a Commissioner for Health, Osun State, Nigeria from 2011 to 2014 and Chairperson, Osun State Agency on Control of HIV/AIDS, and Osun State Technical Working Group on Immunization.”
Tinubu makes fresh appointments in NAFDAC
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Tinubu on Thursday, February 15, confirmed the appointment of new heads in the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mansur Kabir as the chairman of the board of NAFDAC.
In a statement signed by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president, on media & publicity, on Thursday, Tinubu also reappointed Mojisola Adeyeye as the director-general (DG) of the agency and appointed Olajide Idris as the DG of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
