ABUJAThe senator representing Anam­bra Central, Victor Umeh, has revealed his position regarding the long-awaited ministerial list of Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Umeh on Thursday, July 20, disclosed that the Sen­ate is not in custody of the minis­terial list purportedly sent to its chamber by President Tinubu, Daily Independent reported.

“Tinubu’s ministerial list not with senate”, Umeh insist

Umeh made this disclosure while reacting to reports in sections of the media that the upper chamber had received the ministerial list from the executive.

He said that the Senate could not have been discussing the minis­terial list during their closed-door meeting when they have not re­ceived the list, The Guardian report added.

Ministerial list: Senate finally speaks on Tinubu’s nominees

The Senate will suspend its annual vacation as the Red Chamber is said to be expecting the ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu for screening.

The lawmakers are expecting the list from the presidency early next week.

A principal officer of the Senate disclosed that the Upper Chamber was expected to embark on its annual recess, expected to be on July 27 to September, and would be willing to have a sitting every day to ensure that the nominees are cleared, even if that means the beginning of the recess would be extended by one week.

President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list has been dominating the media space for nearly a month now, and with a few days left for the president to unveil the list, Nigerians are yet to know when the list will actually be revealed.

But it has been said that any person that becomes the minister of petroleum aside from President Tinubu himself or his vice, Kashim Shettima, would not last more than six months in office.

Daniel Bwala, a media aide to Atiku Abubakar during the February 25 presidential election campaign, made the claim in a tweet on Wednesday, July 19.
