– UEFA is planning to breathe down heavily on Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus

– Sources claim they could be thrown out of the Champions League for about two seasons

– The three clubs are yet to denounce their involvement in the failed Super League project

The trio of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus might be denied a chance to participate in the UEFA Champions League next season.

La Liga duo and the Serie A outfit are the three remaining clubs yet to denounce involvement in the proposed breakaway tournament.

Nine of the 12 founding teams have already turned their back on the mega competition except for the above-named three clubs.

The European football governing body, UEFA, has now revealed that it is going to take disciplinary action in a statement released on Tuesday, May 25, and quoted by Marca and The Mirror. The statement began:

“Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project.

“Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework. Further information will be made available in due course.”

Marca revealed that the procedure is likely to last about 30 days or more while the sanctions imposed on Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus will be known.

Meanwhile, the three teams could be thrown out of the Champions League for one or two seasons, in addition to a heavy fine.

Should this happen, LaLiga Santander would keep the four Champions League places it currently holds, with Real Sociedad and Betis replacing Real Madrid and Barcelona in next season’s competition.

Legit.ng earlier reported that UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has assured that all 12 clubs which announced a breakaway Super League will be punished severely, further branding three of the clubs ‘Flat-Earthers’.

In his reaction, Ceferin also hinted that the so-called ‘Bix Six’ Premier League teams might get reduced sanctions for pulling out first.

Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool all withdrew from the competition following uproar by fans of the respective clubs.
