MOTIONS

(1) Motion on the urgent need for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Sagamu and Ikorodu- Itokin Roads.

Note: That the legislative intervention led to the virement of the funding of the road to Sukuk Financing Scheme that has yielded desired results. This culminated in the progress of work from Eyita (around Sabo), down to First gate (LASUSTECH), Odogunyan, Ita-Oluwo, Ogijo, Gbaga, Likosi .The work is almost completed.

Meanwhile, the 32 km Ikorodu-Itokin Road, constructed in 1975 by Taylor Woodrow, under General Yakubu Gowon, which was in a very deplorable state is currently undergoing major reconstruction as a result of the motion and other efforts Senator Abiru made.

(2) Motion on the ban of Crypto currency in Nigeria

(3) Motion and presentation of petition by Magodo Residents Association on the unlawful invasion and occupation of Magodo Estate by armed policemen purportedly acting on the order of the Attorney General of the Federation and Inspector General of Police.

(4) Motion on flood disaster in Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Kosofe Communities

(5) Motion on the need to position Nigeria and Nigerian businesses for Continental growth through the African continental free trade zone (Afcftz).

(6) Motion on the urgent need to effect the payment due to Beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s special public works Scheme through their respective chosen banks.

 

ENGAGEMENT WITH STAKEHOLDERS IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Both in the 9th National Assembly, when he chaired the Senate Committee on Industry, and now as the Chairman, Senate Committee Chairman on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Abiru has also been engaging with relevant industry Stakeholders for the advancement of the nation’s development and growth, particularly towards the attainment of the goal of 1 trillion dollar economy by 2026, set by President Bola Tinubu administration.

 

EMPOWERMENT/ FACILITATIONS

EDUCATION:

(1) Four blocks of 24 classrooms equipped with complements of furniture and 16 toilets and Solar-Powered Borehole at Aga Primary School, Ikorodu.

(2( Two blocks of 6 classrooms were facilitated at RCM Primary School, Iwerekun, Ibeju-Lekki.

(3) One block of 3 classrooms at Ajelogo Primary School, Agboyi-Ketu.

(4) One block of 2 classrooms with office/ store furnishing and solar power installation was facilitated at UPE Primary School, Ajegende, Eredo.

(5) One block of two classrooms at Methodist Primary School, Oke-Eletu, Ijede LCDA.

(6) One block of 2 classrooms at Araromi Primary School, Gbagada

(7( One block of 2 classrooms at Aiyeroju Primary School, Oworo.

(8) Two blocks of classrooms at Isheri Primary School, Ikosi Isheri LCDA.

(9) ICT Centre at the Igbobi Junior High School, Somolu Lagos.

(10) Construction of one (1) Block of two Classrooms with Furniture, Express Way, Pry Sch, Ikosi Isheri

(11) Construction of one (1) Block of 2 Classroom, Isheri Pry School

(12) Provision of Instructional Materials, Textbooks, Furnishing and Equipment to African Bethel Primary School, at African Bethel Primary School, Ota-Ona Ikorodu

(13) Provision of Infrastructural Materials, Textbook, Furnishing and Equipment to Pedro Primary School, Pedro Primary School, Somolu

(14) Provision of Infrastructural Materials, Textbook, Furnishing and Equipment to LG Primary School, LG Primary School, Akodo Ibeju Lekki

(15) Construction of one block of 2 classrooms , Kingdom Nursery and Primary School, Egbin, Ijede LCDA

(16)Construction of Two (2) blocks of three classrooms each (6 Class rooms), UPE Primary School, Irila

(18) Construction of a block of Twenty-Two (22) class rooms with toilets at Wright Memorial Primary School, Somolu

(19) Construction and equipping of one block of three (3) classrooms at Methodist Primary School, Imota

(20) 200-solar-powered street lights at LASUSTECH

 

HEALTH

(1) Construction of a 40-bed Health facility and Dental Centre at the Ikorodu Campus of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, formerly known LASPOTECH

(2). A 40-Bed Health facility at Mascara Health Centre in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

(3) A 40-bed hospital at Isiu, Ikorodu North LCDA.

(4) Supply of ambulances to General Hospitals

(5) Rehabilitations of Igbo-Olomu and Ori-okuta Primary Health Care Centres and supply of drugs and medical equipment

(6) Construction of Doctors’ quarters at Owode Labora, Ibeju Lekki Social Economic Development

(2) The reconstruction of the popular Oluwo Fish Market in Epe. The numbers of shops were increased from 259 to 322 comprising Lock-up shops, open sheds and 12 toilets.

(3) Provision of hand planters to 200 rural farmers with N20,000 cash support.

(4) Cash grants of N50, 000 to 1,250 market women across the district.

 

WATER PROJECTS

(1) Motorised boreholes with generators were facilitated at: 1. Mojoda Market Eredo,

(2) Itoikin

(3) Agbowa

(4) Construction of motorized borehole, Eleyo CDA, Imota

 

Financial and other forms of Assistance to vulnerable people

(1) Over 25,000 Households benefited from quarterly food pack Scheme

(2) Monthly financial assistance to hundreds of constituents through liaison offices at Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Somolu , Kosofe and here in Ikorodu.

(3) Festive gifts to constituents and stakeholders across 98 wards in the 16 LCDAs/LGAs in the Lagos East Senatorial District.

 

YOUTH AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

(1) A 960-spectator capacity mini stadium with a two-pavilion sports facility, Basketball and Volleyball courts, at Epe.

(2) Minis- Sport Facility at Imota

(3) Mini- sports facility at Eredo

(4) Mini- Sport facility at Ikosi-Isheri

(5) Mini- Sport facility, Ibeju-Lekki

(6) Construction of Youth Centre, Ibeju Lekki

 

BUSINESS CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT FOR ENTREPRENEURS

(1) organized a Business Capacity Workshop/Clinic/ for 1000 MSMEs across the Senatorial district, in partnership with The Fate Foundation and Standard Chartered Foundation.

(2) SMEDAN Trade Grant to 200 MSMEs in the District

(3) N300 Million Naira Constituency Intervention Revolving Loan at 6 % per annum interest rate.

(4) In partnership with Nigerian Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), facilitated support for smallholder poultry farmers in Lagos East.

ENDOWMENT

  1. SAIL INNOVATION LAB

A major part of Senator Abiru’s endowment pillar is the establishment of SAIL Empowerment Foundation (co-founded with his wife, Mrs Feyisola Abiru). The foundation is managed independently by a board of Trustees who are top professionals in their fields.

The foundation established the SAIL Innovation Lab (SAIL) in partnership with a foremost Technology and Innovation company in Africa, Co-Creation Hub (CCHUB) in 2021.

SAIL is a human Capital development project that seeks to broaden the skills and talents of young people, by equipping them with relevant digital and Innovation skills. The goal is to create an environment where young people can access tools, resources and skills to compete effectively in the ever changing global economy. SAIL offers the following programmes free of charge to qualified participants:

(1) Tech Talent Development: – Where tech novices are trained to become entry-level software developers in 6 months.

(2) Data science for society: – Participants are trained on Data Analytics specifically for solving real societal problems through their capstone projects.

(3) Startup Accelerator: – we support and incubate youths that have ideas to find product-market-fit and position them for growth through training, mentoring and access to raise required funding for their various startups.

(4) Game Development: – Participants are trained on how to create / develop online games using 3D modeling, Animation, Video editing and production skills amongst others.

(5) STEM for Senior Secondary Students: – Focused on teenagers from 13-18 years students who are in public schools, out of school awaiting university admission through weekend classes. They are trained on physical computing and the use of Arduino in prototyping.

(6) Lagos East Teachers Fellowship: – Teachers in public schools are trained on Inquiry Based learning approach and the use of

modern technology to impact knowledge. The programme runs for 4 months.

To ensure our graduates take advantage of the opportunities in the area of Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, SAIL partnered with Awarri AI to provide a Job placement pipeline for those trained by SAIL. About 106 participants in Tech Talent and Data Science have secured full time employment with Awarri AI at a decent salary of N200,000 (plus free lunch) monthly.

  1. Bursary award to Six hundred (600) brilliant but indigent students across Lagos East Senatorial District.
  2. Cash support to over 2,500 vulnerable people every month under COVID 19 Relief Support Scheme. Over 150 Million Naira has been disbursed in 24 months.
