Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have confirmed they are divorcing, releasing a joint statement saying they have “amicably” decided to end their marriage.
Singer Jonas – one third of the band the Jonas Brothers – filed for divorce on Tuesday at a court in the US, stating in papers that their marriage was “irretrievably broken”.
He and Game Of Thrones star Turner married in 2019 after eloping in Las Vegas following an awards show and have since had two children together.
In a joint statement posted to their Instagram accounts, 26-year-old Turner and Jonas, 34, said: “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Turner, who played Sansa Stark in Game Of Thrones, is said to be in the UK filming, while Jonas is on tour in the US with their two children.
In court filings seen by NBC News – Sky’s US partner network – Jonas said the pair “have shared parental responsibility” over their children, adding that they have a prenuptial agreement – and asking the court to uphold it.
The musician has been spotted in recent weeks without his wedding ring, but he was wearing it during his show in Austin, Texas, over the weekend.

Turner was also seen at the Jonas Brothers’ opening show in New York last month and just a few weeks ago the British actress posted a photograph on Instagram of her and Joe Jonas together.
TMZ reports Jonas is being represented by Thomas Sasser, who also worked for Tiger Woods during his divorce.
