Succession, Happy Valley and Doctor Who among BAFTA memorable TV moment award nominees | Ents & Arts News

David Beckham, Succession’s Brian Cox and a 13-year-old pianist are among the unlikely rivals who will go head-to-head in a fan-voted category at this year’s TV BAFTAs.

The P&O Cruises memorable moment award celebrates all genres and formats, and this year’s nominees include talked-about scenes from documentaries, TV dramas and reality competitions.

The six nominated moments include the infamous Rolls Royce scene from Netflix’s Beckham documentary, which saw footballer David tease his Spice Girl wife Victoria about her ‘working class’ upbringing.

Doctor Who unveiling Ncuti Gatwa as the fifteenth timelord is also on the shortlist, as is Catherine Cawood and Tommy Lee Royce’s dramatic kitchen showdown in the final series of Happy Valley.

Two prestige dramas have made the cut – Succession for Logan Roy’s abrupt death in season four and The Last of Us, for its emotional episode dedicated to Bill and Frank.

Completing the nominations list is Channel 4’s The Piano, specifically the scene when 13-year-old Lucy, who is blind and neurodivergent, stunned commuters in Leeds by playing a complex Chopin piece.

The nominees were chosen by an independent jury of national media experts, led by BAFTA’s TV committee chair Hilary Rosen, but the winner will be decided by the public.

Voters will also have the chance to win one of 100 pairs of tickets to the star-studded event.

The ceremony will once again take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall and the rest of the nominees will be announced on Wednesday 20 March, at midday.
