Katsina – Some bandits have reportedly attacked an army camp at Sabon Garin Dan’Ali, in Danmusa local government area of Katsina state and killed a military commander in an ambush.
According to sources, the attack happened on Thursday evening, April 25, and the corpse of the victim, a victim in the army, was reportedly deposited at a hospital in Katsina.

How army commander was shot death
According to Daily Trust, a reliable source disclosed that the commander was ambushed at Malali village in Kankara local government area. He had been called to reinforce the village to repel an attack.
The source disclosed that bandits completely took over the area. Usually, the security agents at the Maraban Dan’Ali camp in the village often ask for reinforcement, and this new commander was known to be prompt in his response.
The source said:
“They asked for his reinforcement, and he came using a Hilux vehicle instead of the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC); perhaps the APCs were unavailable then. Unfortunately, his assailants waylaid his vehicle and shot him in the head.”
Witness reveals how army commander was killed
Another resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, disclosed that some of the soldiers who retrieved the body of the general also sustained injury during a gun duel between the military and the bandits.
He added that the villagers alerted the military about the impending attack. The military shot in the direction of the bandits, but they heard no response from them, and they left. When the general arrived, the bandits targeted him and shot him dead.
Soldiers’ killing: Lawyer calls for cautions
Legit.ng earlier reported that Barrister Titilope Anifowoshe, a human rights advocate, has called for caution in fishing out the killers of the 17 soldiers in the Okuama community of Delta state.
Anifowoshe, while speaking with Legit.ng, said that the rule of law and reason must be applied to address the issue.
The legal icon appealed to all parties to take emotion out of the matter while expressing regret that such a heinous crime could be committed in the 21st century.
