Shiroro, Niger State – Members of the Dogo Gide group, one of the notorious bandits, have claimed responsibility for crashing a surveillance helicopter belonging to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) in the Shiroro local government area of Niger State.

The MI-171 helicopter, on a casualty evacuation mission, crashed in Badna, Chukuba ward, near Chukuba village on Monday, August 14, Daily Trust reported.

Terrorists claim they crashed NAF jet using an AK47 rifle

According to Daily Trust, on Tuesday, August 15, terrorists, in a two-minute and 17 seconds video, claimed they crashed the NAF helicopter using an AK47 rifle.

The narrator in the video, who spoke in Hausa, stated this in the video.

The media house could not authenticate the claim by the terrorists, but a Fact-Check run to verify the authenticity of the video showed the video was new on the internet.

The Dogo Gide bandits have caused the deaths of many farmers and security operatives in Niger State.

NAF helicopter crashes in top northern state, details emerge

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian Air Force disclosed that its MI-171 Helicopter, on a casualty evacuation mission, crashed on Monday, August 14.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng and signed by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the director of public relations and information for the Nigerian Air Force, the aircraft crashed at about 1 pm near Chukuba Village in Niger State.

NAF aircraft loses tyres mid-air, makes emergency landing in Lagos

An aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) made an emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammad international airport in Lagos on Monday, February 6.

This was disclosed in a statement released by Wapkerem Maigida, spokesperson to NAF.

According to Maigida, the aircraft lost its tyres and had to do a “controlled belly land” at the Lagos airport.

Tension hits Niger state as explosion reportedly kills scores of residents

Scores of residents have been reportedly killed in an explosion that rocked the Galkogo community in the Shiroro local government area of Niger State.

Two accounts of the incidents in the community claimed that the explosions were caused by an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force, while another said dynamites were thrown at the residents by some bandits.
