Tragedy as 2 Men Who Went For Church Inauguration Drown In Ogun River

• Tragedy struck in the Onikoko area of Ogun state as two churchgoers died after drowning in a river
• The victims, Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade went for the inauguration of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church
• Akinola and Falade were rushed to the Ifo General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor

Onikoko, Ogun state – Two persons, Femi Akinola (32) and Tunde Falade (35), who left Lagos for the inauguration of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Onikoko in Ogun state have died after drowning in a river.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, August 29, The Punch reported.

Odutola said the victims were rescued from the heavy tides and rushed to the Ifo General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.

The PRO added that a member of the church, Adebayo Adeosun, reported at the sad incident to the police around 6.30pm on Sunday, August 27.

“A member of the church, one Adebayo Adeosun, reported at the station around 6.30 pm that some boys numbering about seven who came from Lagos on August 27, 2023, for his church inauguration, left the church premises to swim, and got drowned in the process.”

Odutola added that the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olayemi Jacob, stated that there were no marks of violence and no foul play suspected.

Villagers escaping bandits’ attack drown in Abuja

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that five persons, comprising four male adults and a housewife, drowned in an attempt to escape being kidnapped by bandits at Chakumi village in Gurdi ward of Abaji area council of Abuja.

Chakumi shares a boundary with neighboring Daku village through river Gurara in the Dobi ward of Gwagwalada area council of the nation’s capital.

The village chief of Chakumi, Mohammed Magaji, who confirmed the incident said it happened around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21.

4 teenagers celebrating success in WAEC exams drown

Four teenagers drowned at Elegushi Beach in the Lekki area of Lagos state while swimming.

Reports gathered that the teenagers visited the beach to celebrate the completion and success of their West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.
