FCT, Abuja – Shehu Sani, a former senator, on Tuesday, August 22, said the new minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has the capacity to deliver in his new role.
Sani noted that Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers state, could also create problems for President Bola Tinubu.
Sani reacts as Wike starts as minister
The erstwhile lawmaker, therefore, advised Wike to “learn to walk in a minefield or be blown by it”.

Sani wrote on his verified Twitter handle:
“The capacity and competence of the new FCT minister (referring to Wike) to deliver is without doubt.
“The possibility of getting himself and the President into serious political trouble by his utterances or actions is also without doubt. He will have to learn to walk in a minefield or be blown by it.”
Legit.ng reports that it is not the first time that Wike will be a minister. Between July 2011 and December 2014, he was minister of state for education.
Wike speaks on illegal buildings in FCT
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Wike left tongues wagging shortly after he assumed office.
Wike arrived at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) at about 1:20 pm for his first media briefing after his swearing-in ceremony.
The new minister fumed at some happenings in Abuja and asked violators to retrace their steps, or else the government will strike.
PDP governor on Wike’s appointment
In another related news, Legit.ng reported that Governor Ahmad Fintiri of Adamawa state congratulated Wike on his appointment as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Wike is among the 45 confirmed ministers-designate being sworn into office officially by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Conference Centre of the State House, Abuja.
Fintiri described Wike’s appointment as a well-deserved one.
