Cultural Competency in the Private Rented Sector

Cultural Competency in the Private Rented Sector

For landlords and letting agents in Wales, a session on best practice in cultural competency and anti-racism.

Cultural Competency in the Private Rented Sector

Join us on Wed, Apr 17, 2024 at 14:00 to explore best practice in cultural competency for those working in the Private Rented Sector.

Aimed at all landlords and letting agents working in Wales, our expert speakers at Race Equality First will explore how to foster positive relationships with tenants from minority ethnic backgrounds. You will learn how to apply your understanding of different cultural backgrounds to achieve smooth and harmonious tenancies.

You will also get the chance to ask questions in a safe and non-judgmental environment, and learn how to deal with concerns about racism or hate crimes.

Don’t miss out on this enriching experience and the chance to lead the way in equality best practice!

Frequently asked questions

How is this different to the Equality and Diversity / Hate Crime training on Rent Smart Wales?
This training builds on and complements the Supplementary CPD courses on Rent Smart Wales. It also offers the chance to ask questions and discuss your own real-life examples and experiences, to deepen your understanding and clear up any queries you may have.
I’m a landlord / letting agent in England. Is this relevant to me?
Much of the content will be relevant and helpful wherever you are based. However, the session is conducted in the context of Wales and through the lens of the Renting Homes (Wales) Act; some of the content and discussion will therefore be applicable only to Wales.
Why should I give up my time for this session?
All landlords and letting agents, like any other business, have a duty under the Equality Act to their tenants with protected characteristics. It can be difficult to know what this means in practice, and what best practice looks like, so it is important to engage in CPD from time to time.
How will this session benefit me?
The best landlords and letting agents are committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is an important part of CPD, and can make you stand out as a responsible, committed and fair landlord or letting agent.
