Designated Safeguarding Lead training for community based organisations

Designated Safeguarding Lead training for community based organisations

Learn how to become a designated safeguarding lead in the community sector during our online training on February 22, 2024, at 09:30 AM UTC.

This higher level safeguarding training is designed to provide the knowledge required to operate as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within community based organisations such as sprts clubs, after school clubs etc. It is ideal for those that are new to the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead, and for those that are looking to refresh their knowledge.

The course is aligned to Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023 as well as the core principles identified within the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance 2023. At the end of the course you will:

  • Understanding your responsibilities as a designated safeguarding as it pertains to your sector and the organisation that you work or volunteer;
  • Be able to identify the type of abuse and concerns that may arise within your organisation and how to respond to those;
  • Understand the barriers to reporting abuse and concerns and how to address these within your organisation;
  • Have the confidence to respond to a child who has reported abuse, and understand the referral mechanisms required to keep a child safe including the provision of early help;
  • Be able to confidently identify your local multi-agency protection process, escalate concerns and making referrals as required.

This course is delivered online with 2 half days scheduled for the 22nd and 29th February 2024.

The first session will include the knowledge and legislation required to perform the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead.

The second session will build upon the knowledge base with live case studies so you can understand your operational responsibilities within your specific organisation and be comfortable in the role of DSL.

It is assumed that basic safeguarding awareness training has been completed prior to the course being undertaken and attendance to both sessions is mandatory in order to confirm successful completion. A certificate and additional resources will be issued on completeion.
